February Athlete of the Month is Renita Rosas! Renita has shown incredible growth over the past year, overcoming surgeries and obstacles like a true warrior. She shows up, puts in the work, and never quits, ever! All of our coaches are in awe of her determination and resilience. She is nothing short of inspiring!Congrats, Renita, so well deserved! 💪Q: When and why did you start CrossFit?
I first discovered CrossFit in 2016. At the time, I was a Les Mills “body pump” gal and didn’t think much about it. In 2023, I had a moment when I realized I had been neglecting my health, mobility, and overall well-being. I was tired of feeling stuck in my body and knew I needed a real change. I started searching for a gym that fit my schedule, and that’s when I found CrossFit Lake Travis. From the moment I walked in, I knew this was where I could rebuild my strength, confidence, and sense of self.Q: What is your favorite movement?
Power cleans because it’s pure power. It’s explosive, dynamic, and keeps pushing my limits. There’s nothing like the feeling of adding more weight and hitting a smooth, fast lift.Q: What do you love the most about CrossFit?
I love the reality of CrossFit, these are movements we use every day. It reflects life: some days are smooth, and others push you to your limits. What I appreciate most is how it reminds me of my strength. I’ve always been mentally strong, but somewhere along the way, I forgot how much strength I truly have. CrossFit challenges push and prove to me every day that I’m capable of more than I realized.Q: What do you do for fun outside of the gym?
I enjoy spending time with my family, connecting to G-d, and creating art. You’ll also find me reading, volunteering for veteran causes, and sharing cultural and American history with my granddaughter.Q: What advice can you share with new members or potential new members?
This isn’t advice but a reminder to thank yourself. You decided to show up and make a change for you, and that’s something to be proud of. Welcome! Now, let’s embrace the suck together. Some days will be a struggle, but we’re all here for the same reason, to be better than we were yesterday.
